Context

Young people around the world are different because of their unique traditions and mindsets. However, the challenges they face and the issues they care about are certainly similar. Getting to know the values of their peers from other countries can push them to make changes in their lives and society. This is what motivated us, together with the German foundation DFB-Stiftung Egidius Braun, to gather creative and motivated young people who dream globally and are ready to act locally for a 5-day intensive.

Mission

The project aims to help young people overcome obstacles and face challenges. Through the training sessions, participants will learn more about the topics the world is facing today.

Who can participate?

  • Teenagers
15 teenagers from Ukraine and 15 teenagers from Germany aged 16-17 years old who speak English at B1/B2 level.

Project format

Offline

Project program

Duration: 5 days
The project program is unique and is based on Wladimir Klitschko's F.A.C.E. - the Challenge method.

Here is a closer look at the components of the method:

F - Focus - focusing, which is a combination of personal and collective vision; A - Agility - agility, which means being proactive and planning our actions; C - Coordination - coordination, which is the search for synergy with the environment; E - Endurance - endurance, which is the long-term implementation of positive actions. Every day, the project considers one of the blocks of the F.A.C.E. - the Challenge method. The method aims to strengthen willpower and teach how to turn problems into challenges. Project participants will learn how they can take care of the planet and create change in their community.

The idea for a joint project between the Klitschko Foundation and the DFB-Egidius Braun Stiftung came about in 2019 during a meeting of foundation directors in Kyiv, when they noticed that the values of the organizations coincided. The desire to provide teenagers with the opportunity to play sports and study informally became the prerequisites for creating an international project.

We planned to implement the project, but due to the spread of COVID-19, the project was suspended.

The project was implemented in an online format. Challenge Academy turned into a 6-day online intensive for teenagers who want to learn about their own values and their potential contribution to society. The project involved 25 teenagers from Ukraine and 5 teenagers from Germany.

The project was rebranded and renamed Interexchange Academy. Due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the project was implemented offline in Berlin, Germany. Berlin, Germany.

The Challenge Academy helped me to look at goal achievement from a completely different perspective, and after the project I used the F.A.C.E. the Challenge method many times and even talked about it at my local School of Success. Now, when a lot has passed since the end of the project, I still remember our discussions and sometimes understand some ideas in a completely different way, which is both surprising and gratifying. "Challenge Academy is an unrealistically cool opportunity for young people to find out how to succeed!
