Mayors Challenge is a global initiative by Bloomberg Philanthropies that supports bold urban ideas capable of improving residents’ lives. This year, the competition received over 630 applications from around the world, and Kyiv became one of the 50 finalists alongside cities from 33 countries, including New York, Seoul, Helsinki, and Rio de Janeiro.

We believe that even in wartime, Kyiv can be a city that offers new solutions to the world. The project’s mission is to turn recognition into real change: to test and develop digital tools that help young people choose their future, care for their mental health, and learn in a modern environment.

• Development Grant. As a finalist, Kyiv received a grant to test and develop digital tools for schools and create new products that make education more modern.

• A Place Among World Leaders. Kyiv is competing in the finals with 50 cities from 33 countries, representing Ukraine on the same stage as leading global metropolises.

• Mayors AI Forum. Thanks to its technological achievements, Kyiv became one of the 10 founding cities of the Mayors AI Forum—a global platform initiated by Bloomberg Philanthropies and Johns Hopkins University for implementing artificial intelligence in municipal governance. Other founding cities include London, San Francisco, Tokyo, and Boston.
